Privacy and site statistics

Vodic uses Firebase Authentication for email accounts, verification and password reset. Your password is handled by Firebase and is not shown to the site owner. Your artist information, artwork, release titles, creation credits and audio previews are public when you publish them. Full originals are restricted to their uploader while music purchases are unavailable.

Site statistics

We record visits and previews of submitted music to understand how Vodic is used. Visitors are estimated using a server-generated keyed hash of network address and browser information. Raw IP addresses are not stored in the analytics database. This is an approximate count of browsers and networks, not a verified count of people. Recognised automated user agents are excluded.

Visits are limited to one recorded visit per browser/network per 30 minutes. A preview is counted after five seconds, with the same 30-minute duplicate limit for each track. These counts are visible in charts and the private owner dashboard. No advertising tracker or analytics cookie is used. Basic analytics records are retained for up to 90 days; service providers may keep separate operational and security logs.

Account records

The owner dashboard counts accounts first observed signing in to Vodic, including unverified accounts. These counts are recorded from the launch of analytics, rather than importing historical Firebase account records. Only the verified site owner can access the dashboard.
